Emergency Card
Many experts recommend making and carrying an emergency card that contains vital personal information. These cards can be a tremendous advantage for you and for rescuers should you be found incoherent or unconscious during a major disaster. Furthermore, each member of your family should carry one of these cards as well.
An emergency card should first contain identification information. Basic information such as your name, address, phone number, and contact info for next of kin or other relatives should be contained on this card. This info can be used to ensure family members are reunited should someone become injured and/or lost during an emergency.
An emergency card should also contain vital health information. Any chronic conditions or specialized medications should be listed in a prominent fashion. Health insurance information should also be included on the card.
